Our Beginning / How SPVGM started :-
Dharmapuri is the most backward districts in terms of literacy and development in Tamilnadu. This districts consists of tribal population which do not have a little access to basic amenities of life. The caste system divides people and keeps one over the other. The lower rug in the caste system is considered as marginals or Dalits. Caste system by dividing people also prevents many from availing amenities of life.Their religious beliefs too marginalise them and prevent them from availing development benefits.

Politically these people are kept as vote banks. Their votes are often bought. This is also due to their backwardness in education. With reference to education, they do not get equal opportunities like their urban counter parts. Education is linked to employment. Due to lack of proper education, they do not get jobs that fetch them good income. Which helps maintaining their poverty.

The District economy is mainly agrarian nature. Nearly 70 % of the workforce is dependent on agriculture and allied activities. The district is one among most backward drought prone area in the state.

CALL AND COMITMENT: -
The General secretary of St. Paul’s Village Gospel Mission worked as a pastor for 8 ears in the rural villages of Salem, and Dharmapuri Districts. of TamilNadu India. His eyes were opened to the untold miseries of women and children. In order to work for these rural folks, he started St.Pauls Village Gospel Mission in 1996 and got it registed with Govt of India in 1997 under societies of Registration Act.

SPVGM addresses literacy, health (Preventive & Curative) important of children education, economic empowerment of women and women justice and providing necessary training in all walk of life for capacity building. There by enabling these poor women to be self reliant and to gain self confidence. It is the aim of SPVGM to give a new image to these women and poor orphan and semi orphan children through the transforming love of God.
