DAY :
WEDNESDAY
Subject: Prayer for Kings, Rulers, and those in Authority
“Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2: 1-4)

First
Wednesday of the Month
Subject: International Governments and their Leaders
“Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom... And power are mine. By Me kings reign and rulers decree justice and princes, nobles and the judges rule the earth. I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me diligently will find Me.” (Proverbs 8: 14-17)
Kings, Presidents, Prime Ministers and others are the earthly rulers, but the intercessors have the power to change unjust rulers and their kingdoms. The Bible is full of examples of intercessors like Moses, Daniel, Nehemiah, Elijah, Samuel, Esther, Jonah and others that changed the kingdoms and the histories of those countries. The disciples of the Lord have the power to turn the world upside down. Praise God that even today the intercessors are changing the world and preparing it to receive the King of kings.
The citizens of Cyprus thought that they were ruled by their governor Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence. But when Paul and Barnabas visited him in their first missionary journey, they discovered that in reality it was the devil who through Elymas the sorcerer, controlled the governor and ruled the nation. Paul quickly bound the strongman, thus releasing the governor to become the ‘man of peace’ for Cyprus. (Acts 13: 6-12)
The Destroyer is busy destroying the world. He is able to do this on a global scale by influencing national leaders and governments. One of our Prime ministers would not step out of the house or hold an important meeting without first taking advice from his Tantrik (sorcerer). Presidents and Prime ministers of many countries make covenants with demonic powers and routinely consult astrologers and sorcerers through whom Satan controls entire nations.
The Deceiver rules the nations unchecked because of our ignorance. He can only be stopped by us taking our authority in Christ and then taking possession through intercession and proclamation. (Isaiah 47: 12-15-14)
:: PRAYER ::
-
O Lord it is a fearful thing to fall in the hands of the living God. We proclaim to all the kings, presidents, prime ministers and those in authority ‘Not by might nor by power but by My Spirit says the Lord’. Father we pray that rulers and those in authority will break their covenants with the devil and will not consult astrologers, sorcerers and the false prophets of the Destroyer of the nations but tremble, fear and worship You. (Zechariah 4: 6; Hebrew 10: 31)
-
Lord we pray that nations may not war with each other nor oppress, exploit or defame each other, but live in love and peace. Lord let them know that power does not flow from the barrel of the gun but all power comes from You. (Jeremiah 20: 10, Galatians 6: 7)
-
O Ruler of nations, we pray for salvation of the leaders of the countries in the 10°/40° window. That prayer warriors in every country will continually uphold the leaders in prayer and enforce the rule of righteousness, justice and peace. (Samuel 12: 23)
-
Lord help us to boldly proclaim the word to the top leaders. That we will not be afraid of their countenance and the consequences but always remember that we are ambassadors of Christ the King. (Jeremiah 1: 7, 8; Acts 26: 24-29)
-
We pray especially for leaders of those countries whose hearts are hardened and closed to the light of the gospel. We pray that You give them a new heart and open their eyes by the power of Your Holy Spirit. (Proverb 13: 13)
-
Lord we thank You for choosing us to stand in the gap for nations with the assurance that through our intercession nations will transform and glorify Your name. Lift up your heads you everlasting gates that the King of glory can come in. (Psalm 24: 7)

Second
Wednesday of the Month
Subject: The National Government, and the Defense Services. (1 Timothy 2: 1-4)
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom He has chosen as His own inheritance.” (Psalm 33: 12)
The Bible clearly teaches us to honor all people, love the brotherhood, fear God and honor the king. It also tells us to submit to every ordinance of man for Lord’s sake, even to the rulers...for this is the will of God. Our Lord submitted himself to the corrupt and unjust religious and political authorities. Of course we do not submit to anything that does not glorify God. (1 Peter 3: 13-15)
Our nation does not have a track record of good governance. There is criminalization of political parties who create a frenzy of communalism and warped version of ‘nationalism’ and whip up unadulterated xenophobia especially against the minorities and the weaker sections of the society. Terrorism, custodial deaths and murder of the innocent in fake encounters are blatantly committed by the custodians of the law.
We need to constantly pray to God for Judges, the Lawyers and the Police, so that they may execute true justice and show mercy and compassion. That they may not oppress the widow and the fatherless and that they may protect the poor and the alien. (Zechariah 7: 9, 10)
The army, navy and the air force must seek security and safety from the Lord because unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
We should constantly uphold the Christian officials and those who sit in the parliaments because they are the guardians of Godly laws, so that by their character and life style, the name of Jesus Christ is glorified. (Psalm 127: 1)
Our Lord has appointed us as watchmen to guard our cities and the nation against the attacks of the enemy. The firepower of the intercessors of the Lord’s army is immeasurably greater than any army, navy and the air force of the world, put together. All we need to do is to use this firepower.
:: PRAYER ::
-
O Lord our Father, heaven is Your throne and our country is Your footstool. In the name of Your son Jesus Christ we lift up all the leaders, officers and four million government employees of the central Government, before Your throne of grace. We humbly pray that they all be saved and come to the knowledge of truth. (1 Timothy 2: 1-4)
-
Holy Father, thank You for giving us the authority to trample over serpents and scorpions like spirits of criminalization of politics, state sponsored terrorism and violation of human rights of the minority and the marginalized. We pray that all believers will take authority, rebuke these spirits and bring them under subjection.
-
We pray that our government may give special attention to the poorest of the poor, oppressed, widows, orphans, afflicted, refugees, women, children, villagers, pavement and slum dwellers, sick, disabled and those who are unjustly in prison. (Micah 4: 6, 7)
-
O Prince of Peace, we pray that the leaders of all the political parties such as Congress, B.J.P., Janata, Samata, R.S.S., VHP, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena, Communist, Bahujan, Samajvadi and the regional parties may know the truth and work for the establishment of the kingdom of the Prince of Peace.
-
We uphold all the Christian officials and those who sit in the state and national parliaments, before Your throne that they may be the light and salt of the earth. They may remain strong in their faith like Shadrach, Meshack and Abed-nego and not compromise with corruption and idol worship. (Daniel 3: 13-18)
-
Lord, thank You for the Democratic, Secular, and Republic Constitution of our country giving us the fundamental right to preach and proclaim our faith. We pray that every Christian will take advantage of this privilege and make every knee to bow and every tongue of this country, to confess that Jesus is Lord. (Philippians 2: 10, 11)

Third Wednesday of the Month
Subject: Prayer for the State Government
“...Till you know that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men and gives to whom He chooses. (Daniel 4: 25)
King Nebuchadnezzar in his arrogance thought that he had built up the great Babylon with his own might and power, for his own majesty. God immediately punished him and sent him out to live naked, and eat grass like the beasts of the field until he acknowledged that it is the Most High God who rules in the kingdom of men. Daniel took authority and ruled the nation through fasting and prayer. (Daniel 4: 28-34)
The Young David was angry with Goliath because he had defied the armies of the living God. He took his authority in God and told the giant that the Lord does not save with sword, spear and javelin but the battle is the Lord’s, ‘I come in the name of the Lord of the hosts...that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.’ David the shepherd boy became the ruler of Israel for standing boldly against a formidable enemy. (1 Samuel 17: 45-47)
Recently an eastern potentate declared from the ramparts of the fort that there is no God and dictatorship will last forever. One day early in the morning, the believers in that nation formed a human chain around his palace. They prayed to the Lord that either He should change the heart of the dictator or else remove him altogether. Within a year the dictator died of an incurable disease. The Christians used their authority in Christ and ruled that nation.
God is going to shake the heavens and the earth and only that which is unshakable will remain and the ‘overcomers’ will receive a kingdom, which cannot be shaken. (Hebrews 12: 26-28; Revelation 21: 7)
Through His blood, the Lord has made us priests and kings and we must take authority in Christ and reign here and now, on His behalf. (Revelation 5: 9, 10)
:: PRAYER ::
-
O Gracious Lord, You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. In Your mighty name we rebuke the Deceiver and the Destroyer of the nations that he has no right to rule in our region because we are praying for those who rule and have authority over us. Lord we pray for the salvation of the Governor, the Chief Minister, Ministers, Legislators, the Opposition party, police and all the administrative officials. (Revelation 22: 13; Malachi 3: 11, 12)
-
We pray that judges may know that one-day, they too will be judged by You, a righteous judge. Therefore, they should judge others with the fear of God. (1 Corinthians 6: 1-11).
-
We pray that the state officers may know that bribery and corruption are sin and the wages of sin is death. That they may know that there is no salvation in any other, for there is no name under heaven, given among men by which we must be saved. (Acts 4: 12)
-
We pray for the T.V., Radio, Newspapers, editors and publishers and all those who influence people’s minds that they may fear You and use the media to break the bonds of injustice and chains of oppression from the poor. We pray that the media may daily glorify and magnify Your name. (Isaiah 58: 3-12)
-
We pray for the salvation of police officers and policemen. We pray that they may not violate human rights. That they may not give false witness and persecute the innocent. That they may not take bribes but remain satisfied with their wages. (Luke 3: 14)
-
Father we thank You because You have laid up for us a crown of righteousness...and not only for us but for all who have loved His appearing. (2 Timothy 4: 7, 8)

Fourth Wednesday of The Month
Subject: Strategic Prayer for the City
So it was, when I heard these words (about Jerusalem City) that I sat down and wept and mourned many days; I was fasting and praying before the God of heaven. (Nehemiah 1: 4)
Nehemiah was a only a cup bearer of a great gentile king but had a great burden for his city of Jerusalem even though he was far away in Babylon, which is now Iraq. When he heard about the sad condition of his city, he wept and began praying and fasting for 3 months. The king appointed him the governor of the city and gave all the facilities he asked for. Nehemiah secretly visited the city alone at night and collected information on which he made his strategy. He gathered all the elders of the city and delegated the responsibility to build the wall right in front of their own houses. He finished the building of the seven-kilometer wall of Jerusalem in a record time of 52 days, in spite of severe persecution from his own people. (Nehemiah 6: 15)
From Nehemiah we can learn many lessons which are applicable to us. First and foremost is to be burdened for one’s own city. If we have no concern for our own city, then the city is doomed.
But if we have a burden which every believer should have, then everything can happen like fasting, prayer, collecting detailed information about the city, setting goals, developing a strategy, implementing it as well as using local resources. Also we must never forget that whenever we want to do some good then persecution will come, often from within. But like Nehemiah, we should never lose sight of our goal. (Nehemiah 2: 19, 20; 6: 2, 3)
God has chosen us to transform the city through prayer, proclaiming the gospel and taking possession by planting multiplying churches, which will turn the city upside down. But first we must build a wall of defense against the
enemy
:: PRAYER ::
-
O Lord You are Jehovah Shammah which means ‘Lord is there’. We look forward with awe and wonder to that wonderful day when You will be a city dweller, living among people in the New Jerusalem. In the meanwhile thank You for living in our hearts. (Ephesians 2: 6; Ezekiel 48: 35)
-
Lord, we pray and bless all those who have rule and authority and provide facilities for us like our local officials, M.L.A’s, members of parliament, Commissioner, Collector, Zila Panchayat Adhyaksh, S.P., Sarpanch, B.D.O., Tehsildar, Kotwal, Patwari, departments of Agriculture, Electricity, Education, Post Office, Statistics, Health, Forest, Animal Husbandry, Income Tax, Police, Bank, Telephone, Environment, Road, Railway, Water supply, Sanitation and their workers, that they may all know the truth and find salvation.
-
Lord we pray that like Nehemiah, You will burden the believers for their cities so that they will weep, fast, pray and do all that is necessary to build a wall of defense against the enemy.
-
We pray that You will give us the right strategy of Saturation Church Planting to rapidly saturate our city with churches and turn it upside down. We also pray that you show us the ‘Persons of Peace’ in every part of our city, where we may find all the necessary resources to implement the strategy. (Luke 10: 6)
-
Lord although we are foolish, weak and worthless, You have chosen us to shame the wise, the mighty and the noble of the city, only because we have believed in Your name. (1 Corinthians 1: 26-30)
-
Thank You for raising us and making us sit together in heavenly places with Christ Jesus. You have empowered us to wrestle with principalities and powers of darkness and provided us with all the spiritual weapons we need to take possession of our city. (Ephesians 1: 20-23)
