Best of the Web

In this section I am listing the sites on the web that have material  worth going through. The top of my list is the "play piano today" site Click HERE for Online Piano Lessons - learn to play piano by ear! Several styles are covered and the material is very useful. Next comes the Gospelkeyboard.com website. You will find a lot of examples of interesting chords, sequences and styles both in the MIDI file format and as well as in short video clips. Check the free lessons page. You need to register (free) to access the tons of stuff that they have put up. I am greatly blessed by their attitude, Christian spirit and the type  of information available for use. 

If you want information on music theory, visit, worshipinfo.com.  Check the "Materials" section where Dr. Barry Liesch has put up several tutorials. There are several downloadable tutorials listed. Though they are parts of larger books, these tutorials have a wealth of information. There are also MIDI files of the examples that can be downloaded. He deals with the theory behind the use of added 2nds, Quartals, raised 11th and the creation of modulations etc. Well worth downloading.

We offer free music lessons to Christian worship musicians so that they can acquire a greater level of skill and thereby serve God with greater excellence. 

Why do we want to do this? Over my 33 years of involvement in music, I found it extremely difficult to find good musicians who were willing to share their insight into music. Therefore my progress was extremely difficult and slow. Sometimes new chords were deciphered only after great labor. Sometime back I was convinced that I should pass on whatever insight that I may have gained, to other keyboard players, so that they are blessed. Therefore I started this site considering this ministry as an exercise in Christian stewardship of talent. 

Who will benefit from this site? The intermediate player will find many helpful insights. The advanced player too will find something either in this site or in one of the recommended sites. 

If you are blessed by this site, there are some things that you can do too. First you too can pass on your skill to others by mentoring younger musicians. You can also pass on this site address to others who can benefit. If you want to contribute articles or if you want to underwrite any aspect of this ministry, please do get in touch. There are video lessons that are scheduled to be uploaded in the coming months. Since I am doing this in whatever spare time that I can get, I am currently adding about two articles per week.
