By the grace of God, ACCEPT has been able to make a difference in the lives of HIV positive / AIDS patients, their families and the community. A helpline number is advertised daily in all the English and vernacular newspapers:

ACCEPT: HIV/AIDS infected & needy? Contact ACCEPT Society for caring confidential counselling and help. Agara Horamavu Phone: 56990452 / 28445202

Counselling over phone is offered to those who call.

As a next step, the patients are counselled in person and if they are in need of medical aid, they are taken to the doctor. Subsequent visits are made to help them cope with fear and other problems. Patients whose families have rejected them or are unable to care for them are admitted in the Care Centre. Counselling for physical, psychological and spiritual needs is provided at the Care Centre. Besides medical and nursing care, nutritious food is supplied to the inmates.

The centre is run by a totally dedicated team that includes Administrative staff, Doctor, Nursing/Lab Staff, and Counsellor. All basic medical tests are done in the lab at the Centre. Patients may remain in the Centre till they get better or till their families are ready to accept and take care of them. Since its inception about 115 patients have been admitted and cared for at the Care Centre. Nineteen have faced death in an atmosphere of love and dignity.

Counselling family members on the nature of AIDS and the need of support for patients is another major thrust area for ACCEPT.
