Vocational and Career Development
India has half a billion population below 17 years of age, Nearly 41% of the urban and 51% of the rural population live under the poverty level. 48% adults are illiterates. Only 15% of the young people have access to a formal school. There are 110,000 secondary school in which 272,000 students are enrolled. However, there are 59% educated unemployed. Human beings are the greatest potential of all creation and resource. And "God with the individual" is the greatest practical resource. Since there is no national requirement and funding for career guidance in the school curriculum, the urgency to provide guidance and counselling to the young people by NGO's is crucial. Hence VCD is set up to change the present scenario at formal and non-formal sector in India.
