Our Weekly Newsletter – Dunamis
We here at the Methodist Youth
Fellowship are excited to introduce the global edition of our monthly newsletter
DUNAMIS which means Dynamite in Hebrew – a term used to refer to the Holy Spirit
Power of Jesus .Through DUNAMIS we desire to keep all the stakeholders in MYF
informed on a regular basis about what we as the youth of the church are doing
towards HIS ministry. We hope and desire to be a blessing in our society and
also to each and everyone that we minister to.
Trails – A Part Of Christian
Living
A life chosen to live for
Christ is not a bed of roses. At every turn in the road of life one
finds something that will rob him of his peace of mind and victory.
Being a warrior in Christ’s army is a wonderful and exciting opportunity
but is also challenging. If one studies the lives of great Christian
leaders or ancient missionaries he or she can deduce the fact that
trials and troubles were a part and parcel of their life. We need to
realize that when we choose to live a life for the Lord, we need to be
prepared to face everything that comes with it be it troubles or joy!
The
simple test that lies behind every trial or trouble that comes your way
is the test that brings out what you are made up of. Once when I was
facing a situation where things were not going my way and I was facing
defeat and was almost going to give up, I was encouraged by a message my
friend sent across. It read something like this “being defeated is often
a temporary condition .giving up is what make’s it permanent “. I
realized that when God chooses you to fulfill a plan of His and when you
give up , you are proving Him wrong . All that trust, faith and belief
He put in you is shattered just because you don’t have the strength to
endure a little trouble for His sake. Just go watch the movie “Passion
of Christ” and you will see a portrayal of what He when through for our
sake. He went through so much humiliation and pain for our sake and can
we not reciprocate it with a little endurance from our side ?
It is
clearly mentioned in the Bible that God does allow troubles to come our
way test our faith and character. During such time instead of
questioning God’s goodness and giving up hope, we should learn to see
them as opportunities to grow! Seek them as tests that u can get over
with and win more favor in His sight. Just remember that Jesus controls
your life and also the storms in it. “Where God is the maker, who giveth
songs in the night“ (Job 35:10). The strength of a vessel can be
demonstrated only by the hurricane and the power of the Gospel can be
fully shown only when the Christian is subjected to some fiery trial. If
God would make manifest the fact that “He giveth songs in the night.” He
must first make it night !
A mantra that I learnt
in my short trouble period is simple and I hope is useful to you
